UDR offers opportunities for trained mediators to gain experience with the mediation process through these programs:

Small Claims Court--Volunteer mediators conduct mediations for small claims courts in Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Taylorsville, Ogden, and Logan. NOTE: this program is currently on a very limited basis due to mandatory Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) rolling out in Justice Courts.

Small Claims Appeals Cases--The Second and Third Judicial Districts in Utah require mediation prior to trial for small claims cases that are appealed. UDR coordinates this program for the Court and uses more experienced volunteer mediators to conduct these mediations.

Community Mediations--Volunteer mediators help parties resolve a variety of disputes at UDR's community mediation centers. These mediations include disputes between neighbors, landlords and tenants, consumers and merchants, employers and employees, and business partners.

Family Mediations--UDR maintains a small roster of experienced mediators who qualify to conduct domestic mediations. These mediators volunteer their time to assist low- and middle-income clients resolve issues relating to divorce, separation, parenting, child support, and interpersonal relationships.
